This is the story of 8sails.
The site began in 2007 and has undergone several changes since then.
Most notably, it was originally the sole location for all its content. Now content is spread out across blogs, Adobe Express pages and other locations.
The site also served many functions: movie review catalog, blog host, art gallery, code testing ground, host for course materials for my classes, and many more.
The site’s name comes from Pirate Jenny’s big number in The Threepenny Opera. If you're confused about where "eight sails" is in the song, ignore the common English translation and look at the lyrics in the original German.
